Welcome to Yeppoon State School. For 123 years Yeppoon State School has played a pivotal role in the coastal community of Yeppoon. Even with a student population of around 400 a family atmosphere of genuine care is maintained. With buildings painted in heritage colours, YSS nestles snugly into one of the most picturesque landscapes imaginable. Our grounds of over 10 hectares include a swimming pool on site, two beautiful ovals, an environmental bushwalk and two adventure playgrounds offering a unique learning environment.
The school has become renowned for the high standards in academic, cultural and sporting achievements and highly competent and dedicated teaching staff. Each year Yeppoon State School achieves exceptional results in the statewide year 3, 5, and 7 literacy and numeracy tests. Some years even topping the district!
Creative students also are encouraged to reach levels of excellence. In 2008 the Yeppoon State School instrumental music band performed for the Minister for Attorney General and Justice, Mr Kerry Shine and at our ANZAC Day Service. Our Choir gained thrid place at the 2008 Eisteddfod and performed at numerous events. Each year all students contribute to the school Art Exhibition which is professionally displayed in the Yeppoon Town Hall. Our talented Robotics Club surprised all in 2008 by scooping the pool in their section of the district Robotics Competition with a 1st, 2nd and 3rd!
During their schooling students learn movie making skills using recently purchased equipment. Our fit young athletes also find an avenue to demonstrate their prowess. From swimming champions to athletics championships to winning district football and netball teams, our students have demonstrated their skill as they represent our school.
Most importantly the staff, students and parents of Yeppoon State School share a commitment to family values through their support for the Virtues Program.
As principal of this great school I can only feel enormous pride and huge optimism for our future Yeppoon citizens.
